What is this, 1997?

So, I am ashamed to admit that I have been playing a Nintendo Emulator lately.. playing my old childhood favorite, The Legend of Zelda.

I know… it’s lame, and I don’t really care. It’s been so long that I have forgotten most of it, having to explore the 2D world of Hyrule is both an adventure and a lesson on old age.. because you get small flashbacks of memories whist trying to figure out something. It’s like wandering through life as a forgetful old man.

I remember my first NES Emulator, Nesticle, that we installed on our High School computers next to the hidden folder DOOM was saved in, giggling like adolescents that Nesticle sounded like Testicle… We had to make sure to only use them on Windows 95 computers because the floppy disk version we had didn’t work on Windows 3.1.. you know, pre-START button.

Back in my day we didn’t have fancy schmancy Compact Disks to load out games on, everything came on unfloppy square 3.5″ “floppy” disks… We had 32 Megs of Ram and we made the most out of it! Sure you would spend the first half of the class booting up the computers.. but it was all we had, and we were happy to have it! *mumble* Damn kids these days…

So anyway.. it is incredibly hard to play Zelda using the laptop’s arrows and the < > as the A and B button. So just for shiggles I Googled a USB NES controller… and now Amazon has one shipping it’s way to my home. Wow.. old school meets new school.

So.. yeah.. don’t judge. My folks play their 45’s and LP’s, watch Star Wars… I play Nintendo. Shaddup.
